Baptisms, Confirmation, Weddings and Funerals Baptism
These can be arranged through the Benefice Administration who will confirm the availability of the time and appropriate Church. They normally take place at 12.30pm on a Sunday, but can be arranged with the agreement of the Rector at another time. Before the service the Rector will meet with the parents to discuss the order, and the understanding of baptism You can be married in any church of our Benefice subject
to meeting the criteria of the Marriage Act 2008. This measure offers the Church new ways to clarify
reissue and celebrate its wider welcome, so as to meet the needs of couples
requesting church weddings better and to integrate more of them into the
ongoing life of the local church. It does not affect the existing right of
parishioners but allows couples opportunity to many in a church which has
special significance for them, even though it is not where they live, without
applying for a special licence. The changes will mean an engaged couple are
welcome to be married in church in a parish if just one of these applies:
• one of them was baptised or prepared for
confirmation in the parish;
• one of them has ever lived in the parish
for six months or more; • one of them has at any time regularly attended public worship in the parish for
six
months or more; • one of their parents has lived in the parish for six months or more in their child’s
lifetime; • one of their parents has regularly attended public worship there for six months
or more in their child’s
lifetime; • their parents or grandparents were married in the parish. If you are interested in being confirmed, please contact us. The Rector normally prepares both adults and children, and the Confirmation service is taken by the Bishop. Funerals Funeral Services are taken by arrangement by a member of our Clergy Team and are normally arranged through the Funeral Director. Following Cremation ashes can be buried in a Churchyard of the Benefice with prior arrangement, normally through the Funeral Director, but can be made through our Benefice Administration. Monuments etc. are arranged through the Funeral Director or a stone mason who will seek approval from the Rector for erection of the same. |
